Texas Fire Resources Announces Summer Classes

Texas Fire Resources is excited to announce our 2022 advanced training courses: Driver/Operator – Pumper, Fire Officer 1, and Fire Service Instructor 1 & 2. These courses will be offered in our best in-class hybrid program or onsite with prior agreement.

Driver/Operator – Pumper: The Driver/Operator-Pumper course is designed to give you the skills and knowledge necessary to operate a fire department pumper during emergency situations. This course is based on classroom lectures and field evolutions covering such activities as relay pumping, drafting, foam operations, apparatus maintenance, and driving. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be eligible to take the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) exam. In addition, participants can apply for certification through State Firefighters’ and Fire Marshals’ Association (SFFMA).

Fire Officer 1: This course is designed to prepare you for the state certification exam for Fire Officer 1. Students will learn about the skills necessary to be an effective supervisor and leader at the Company Officer level, including:

  • The role of a Company Officer in emergency response
  • The importance of leadership in incident command
  • How to manage risk in emergency situations

Fire Service Instructor 1: This course is designed to prepare you for the state certification exam for Fire Instructor 1. You’ll learn how to deliver instruction effectively, with a prepared lesson plan that includes instructional aids and evaluation instruments; adapt lesson plans to the unique requirements of your students; organize the learning environment so that learning and safety are maximized; and meet the record-keeping requirements of authority having jurisdiction.

Fire Service Instructor 2: The purpose of this course is to prepare you for the state certification exam for Fire Instructor 2. This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop individual lesson plans for a specific topic, including learning objectives, instructional aids and evaluation instruments; schedule training sessions based on overall training plan of authority having jurisdiction; and supervise and coordinate activities of other instructors.
